what flavours do you offer?
All our cakes and cupcakes are made to order. Our flavours include: dark or white chocolate mud cake, traditional fruit cake, vanilla , almond praline torte, hummingbird, carrot & orange, caramel mud, banana and orange & poppyseed.
For multi-tiered cakes it is possible to have a different flavour for each tier.
do you offer design appointments or tastings?
Tastings are available for wedding orders by appointment only. They are $30 and include a variety of cakes to sample. We will also come to you and during the appointment we will discuss the design of your cake, so please have any pictures, invitations, fabric swatches and any other items that may help us design something special for your event.
We ask that should you need to reschedule, or cancel you contact us no later than 48 hours in advance.
can I order cakes not featured on this website?
Yes! Cakes can be crafted in most shapes and sizes. Please feel free to email us pictures or references to other cakes that you may have in mind and we will endeavour to provide you with an accurate quote. If your wedding or function has a theme we can match the design of your cake to anything you have in mind.
can my cake be delivered?
Because our cakes are fragile and unique works of art we like to ensure your cake arrives in perfect condition. Therefore, we offer a prompt and safe delivery service. Delivery rates vary depending on area but on average range between $15-$45. For wedding cake orders delivery cost includes the set-up of your cake at your reception venue.
what payment methods do you accept?
The payment methods we accept include: cash, cheque, money order and direct bank deposit.
how much notice is required for cake orders?
For most cakes we appreciate as much notice as possible (3-6 weeks notice is advisable).
For wedding cakes it is never too early to place an order for your special day, we advise you secure your date as quickly as possible especially between the months of October to April as these are the busiest months for wedding cake orders. We recommend at least 8-10 weeks notice for wedding cakes.
how much deposit is required?
Once you have decided on the design of your cake, we require a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost of your cake once your order has been received and confirmed, this helps to secure your date. For speciality cakes the final payment is required 7 days prior to your event date. For wedding cake orders final payment is required no less than 2 weeks before the wedding.
Design changes will not be accepted less than 2 weeks prior to your event.
what size cake do I need?
This depends on how many people your cake is for and whether you intend on serving dessert size slices or coffee/box size pieces. As a general guide coffee portions are approximately 1"x1"x3" (2.5cmx2.5cmx7cm). Dessert size portions are usually 2 to 3 times the size of coffee portions.
For wedding cakes, size is also determined by whether you intend to keep a layer for your first anniversary or the christening of your first child. Please detail these requirements in your email to us so we can provide you with an accurate quote.
does 'Cake & eat it' offer gluten free cakes?
Yes, our gluten free varieties include a rich moist flourless chocolate cake and a flourless orange and almond cake.
We will also happily decorate a cake you supply.
what about cupcakes or mini-cakes?
Cupcakes or mini-shaped cakes are a great option and alternative to the traditional wedding, birthday or christening cake. They look great on a tiered stand and can also be designed to accommodate corporate logos and promote product launches.
